Moving in Mold

A local team that knows the area

Mold is Flintshire's county town, and moves here vary widely — town-centre terraces, newer estates on the outskirts, and rural properties on single-track lanes towards the Clwydian hills. We regularly work in Mold, Buckley, Northop and the villages between them, so we know which lanes suit a removal van and which need a longer carry. If access is restricted, tell us in your quote and it is priced in from the start — no additional charges on the day.

Worth knowing before you move in Mold

  • Mold's street market runs every Wednesday and Saturday, 9am to 3.30pm, and the High Street is closed to traffic while it is on. Town-centre moves on those days are planned around it.
  • The villages towards the hills — Gwernaffield, Pantymwyn, Cilcain, Rhydymwyn, Nercwys, Nannerch — are reached by single-track lanes. A 3.5-tonne van fits most of them; where it does not, we plan a longer carry.
  • The A494 links Mold to the A55 at Ewloe and on to Chester and Deeside; the A541 runs to Wrexham one way and Denbigh the other.

Common questions

Moving in Mold — common questions

Can a removals van park on Mold High Street on moving day?

Not on a Wednesday or Saturday between 9am and 3.30pm — the street market is on and the High Street is closed to traffic. If your property is on the High Street itself, or on New Street, Wrexham Street, Chester Street or Earl Road where the market traffic backs up, a market day means either loading from a side street or choosing another day. On other days it is a normal town-centre street: on-street loading, with a short carry if the nearest space is a few doors down.

Do you cover the villages around Mold, or only the town?

Both. Northop, Sychdyn, Gwernaffield, Pantymwyn, Cilcain, Rhydymwyn, Nercwys, Leeswood, Treuddyn, Mynydd Isa and Buckley are all covered on the same basis as Mold itself. Some of the lanes towards the hills are single-track with passing places; our vans are 3.5-tonne vehicles and manage most of them. Where a lane is too tight, we stop at the nearest sensible point and carry — tell us in the quote and the extra carry is included in your price.

How much does a move from Mold to Chester cost?

There is no fixed figure to quote, because every move is priced individually from two things: the volume of your items in cubic metres, and the real driving route between your two postcodes. Mold to Chester is around twelve miles by the A494 and A55, so the distance element is small and the volume of what you are moving sets most of the price. Build the list online and your price is shown on screen in about two minutes.

Do you do house clearances and probate clearances in Mold?

Yes. Full and part clearances, including probate and estate clearances, are handled discreetly and at your family's pace. Because we are a family-run company, the people you speak to on the phone are the people who arrive at the property. Tell us what needs to be kept, what is going to family and what is going, and we work to that.

Can you do a same-week move from Mold?

Sometimes. The calendar in the online quote only shows dates on which a van and team are actually free, so the quickest way to find out is to build the quote and look at the dates offered. If nothing suits, call 07831 104408 and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

Is Mold within your normal area, or a longer-distance job?

It is core coverage. Our base at Cefn Mawr, near Wrexham, is about twenty miles from Mold by the A483 and A541 or via the A55, and we are in Mold, Buckley and Northop regularly. Note that the distance element of your quote is calculated between the two postcodes you enter — the pickup and the destination — not from our base.

Do you move from Mold to Flint, Ruthin or Denbigh?

Yes. Flint is about six miles down the A5119; Ruthin and Denbigh are over the Clwydian hills on the A494 and A541 respectively. All three are priced the same way as any other move — by volume and by the real driving route — and the price updates as you add items to the list.
